It’s hard to move away from CHARLES AND EMMA. And why should I? Because I have to write something else or certain people in my life are going to get very cranky. My agent. My husband. My kids. And me. I do feel much happier when I’m writing, but it’s so hard to stay focused when you have a new baby–I mean book–out in the world. So a few more things about CHARLES AND EMMA. Robert Krulwich sent out a couple of podcasts. One is a Radiolab podcast that is a Darwin’s birthday extravaganza and quite a lot of fun. Robert gave me even more time to talk about my beloved Darwins. You can hear that if you go http://blogs.wnyc.org/radiolab/2009/02/24/darwinvaganza/. And then I also found another little podcast he sent out in which I talk about Darwin and kissing. Yes, my boy Charles thought a lot about kissing, especially while he was engaged to Emma. I think if I knew what I were doing, I’d be able to embed both of these things, but unless Aaron wants to help (Aaron, help?), I’m afraid you’ll have to navigate around the web to hear me talk about saliva and biting and kissing.

Now, here’s what I’m going to be writing about soon. O.K., I do want to write about C & E in another way: I want to explain why I wrote this book for kids not adults. This keeps coming up… I will work on that and post it here by next week. And I’m going to write about a movie I watched that brings up all kinds of issues that I’m thinking about as I work on my next project…For now I’m off to talk to kids and parents in New Jersey.
